In food and beverage applications, it is used as a preservative, flavor enhancer, and pH adjuster. In pharmaceuticals, it can be used as a chelating agent, buffering agent, and preservative. In industrial applications, it is used in metal and textile processing, as an electrolyte in batteries, and as a cleaning agent.
