This technique employs Wrap-around silicone heating jacket to vaporize the surface liquid at a temperature typically 20 °C below the boiling point.

In conventional distillation, the boiling process generates aerosolized particles, leading to contamination in the distillate. In contrast, the gentle surface evaporation used in sub-boiling distillation minimizes spray or droplet formation, resulting in high-purity acids.
