Mercerizing Agent

Mercerizing agent is used to deal with wool and cashmere, it can stop textile from being yellowish and is good at removing scale of wool. It is harmless to human body.

Mercerizing

The process of using concentrated caustic soda solution to deal with Cotton goods ( yarn or fabric) under the condition of remaining its tension and then wash the caustic soda solution away.

Alkali shrinkage

The process of using concentrated caustic soda solution to deal with cotton goods when it is slack to make fibers shrink at random and then wash the caustic soda solution away. This process also called free tension mercerizing and is mainly used for the process of cotton goods.

Traits of fabric with mercerizing and alkali shrinkage

Fabric have the following traits after the process of mercerizing

1.High smoothness

2.High adsorb capacity and chemical reaction capacity.

3.Shrinkage rate,dimensional stability and flatness improved

4.Strength, extensibility and other mechanical property changed

Although alkali shrinkage can not promote smoothness but it can make yarn tight and close and increase its elasticity and also make fabric feel full. Besides, it improve strength and adsorption capacity of dye.
