It is used to produce 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde-2-sulfonic acid, which is an important intermediate for the synthesis of dyes such as Reactive Blue K-FGR and Acid Lake Blue A. It is a key intermediate in the synthesis of the fungicide triadimefon, a new type of pesticide that can replace fenarimol. It is used in the synthesis of platelet aggregation inhibitors and in the preparation of novel Schiff bases containing quinazolinone rings.
