Au coeur de Saint Emilion, pour une part à proximité des remparts de la cité médiévale, pour l'essentiel dans la partie ouest de la commune, ce vignoble bénéficie d’un sol argilo-calcaire e sableux et d’un sous-sol d'alios avec crasse de fer favorisant le drainage. Elevé dans un cuvier moderne équipé de contrôle de température, la fermentation traditionnelle à 28°/32°dure environ 21 jours et 2 à 3 remontages journaliers sont pratiqués dans les premiers jours de la cuvaison afin d'extraire les meilleures tanins. Le vin est vieilli pendant 18 mois en fûts de chêne merrain dans de vastes caves médiévales creusées dans le roc au coeur même du village de Saint Emilion.
