Even in harsh weather conditions such as rain and fog, due to the short wavelength of visible light, the ability to overcome obstacles is poor, so the observation effect is poor, but the wavelength of infrared rays is long, especially for thermal imagers operating at 8~14um. The ability to overcome rain and fog is high, so the target can still be observed normally.
