Puppet-shadow show is a kind of art form which uses light to project shadows of characters which are made of beasts’ skins or cardboards on a screen so as to perform stories. In Chinese art history shadow play is both widely-expanded and unique, which synthesized some characteristics from Chinese opera, music and fine art. Shadow play contains extremely abundant cultural resources. Making shadowgraphs requires highly exquisite craftsmanship and comparatively complicated processes which consists of selecting skins, peeling, soaking skins in plasm, shaping, choosing knives, carving, colouring, oiling, and assembling, etc.
