N,N-Dimethylformamide
N,N-Dimethylformamide is referred to as DMF. It is a compound formed by replacing the hydroxyl group of formic acid with dimethylamine. It is a good solvent for many polymers such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylonitrile, polyamide, etc. It can be used for wet spinning of synthetic fibers such as polyacrylonitrile fiber and synthesis of polyurethane; used for plastic film making; can also be used as a paint stripper for removing paint; it can also dissolve certain low-solubility pigments, giving the pigments the characteristics of dyes.
