L-carnitine

L-carnitine is a naturally available compound that plays a significant role in fatty acid oxidation and energy production in the human body. It is majorly found in skeletal and cardiac muscles of mammals and facilitates the transport of long chain fatty acids into mitochondria.
L-carnitine has been widely used in functional food as a new type of nutritional fortification agent, especially as an additive of infant formula food, athlete food and slimming and bodybuilding food. L-carnitine as a commodity is mainly its hydrochloride, tartrate and magnesium citrate.
