N,N-dimethylacetamide, also known as acetyl dimethylamine, acetyl dimethylamine, or DMAC for short, is a non-proton, highly polar solvent with a slight ammonia smell. It has a strong solubility and can dissolve a wide range of substances. It can be miscible with water, aromatic compounds, esters, ketones, s, ethers, benzene, and chloroform, and can activate compound molecules. Therefore, it is widely used as a solvent and catalyst. N,N-dimethylacetamide can also be used as an electrolytic solvent and a solvent for photographic colorants, a paint stripper, an organic synthesis raw material, and a pesticide and pharmaceutical raw material.
