Cloisonné, also named enamel, is special craftwork which is the combination of bronze and porcelain. Its making process consists of filigree around the bronze body, Shaolan (making the pottery blue in kiln), polishing and gilding the bronze body. All the finished wares such as vessels, lamps and lanterns, smoking sets, are small ones within one Chinese inch in size decorating in bedroom, and quite big size exhibits used in halls and parlors. Cloisonne originated in 13th century, and became very popular in 15th century (Jingtai period of Ming Dynasty in China), it is traditional handicraft’s technique enjoyed a history of a hundred years in China. The color of the ceramic glaze is mainly blue, so people called it Cloisonne. Its making embodies the technique of bronze and porcelain, and blends the styles of the traditional painting and carving skills.
