Its high enantioselectivity makes it an ideal biocatalyst for the resolution of racemic mixtures. Recent studies have explored the use of CALB in the kinetic resolution of β-lactam enantiomers, showing high enantiomeric excess (ee) values and improved yields. CALB is employed in the transesterification of triglycerides to produce biodiesel. Its ability to catalyze reactions in non-aqueous media makes it suitable for converting oils and fats into biofuels
