The earliest use of fluoroacetylene ether synthesized from trifluoroethanol and acetylene was to replace bromofluoroalkanes with greater side effects as anesthetics. Then, non-flammable, low-toxic isofluranes and high-performance new anesthetic dechlorofluoroalkanes were developed using trichloroethanol as a raw material.
