What is Hypoglauca Yam Extract produced in Hunan NutraMax Inc.?

Dioscorea septemloba Thunb. ( Dioscoreaceae ) is perennial twining vine whose rhizome is a common Chinese traditional medicine used for treatment of rheumatism, urethra and renal infection , distributed in Southern China. By guiding of bio-assy activity, the active part from water extract of D. septemloba was found, which showed a strong activity on enhancing bone density of both total and cancellous bone. Earlier chemical research of this plant has reported the isolation of dioscin, gracillin, protodioscin and protogracillin. In this paper, four spirostane glycosides from the rhizomes of Dioscorea spongiosa and their inhibitory activities on bone resorption are reported.
