This specie has smell (good and pleasant smell). *Particularity: It has oil inside the cells which is used in the perfume industry and It is known to the trade as: "oil of guaiac wood", "oleum ligni guaiaci", "Guajacholzöl", or "essence de bois gaïac", and the oil content contained in the cells of the wood of Palo Santo/Lignum vitae also gives this wood excellent self-lubricating properties.
