Oat Beta Glucan is a water-soluble dietary fiber extracted from oats. Oat Beta Glucan lowers cholesterol levels by increasing the viscosity of the digestive contents. It binds to bile acids in the digestive tract, preventing their reabsorption in the ileum and increasing their excretion. This forces the body to use more cholesterol to produce new bile acids, thereby reducing blood levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C).
